2ª PUTAÇA - Campeonato Feminino de Futsal Amador da PEITA começa neste sábado

2ª PUTAÇA - PEITA Women's Amateur Futsal Championship starts this Saturday

After the success of the “Play like a girl” campaign at the 2019 World Cup, the protest brand PEITA holds its 2nd Women's Amateur Futsal Championship with the support of Coletivo Cássia , the lesbian and bisexual arm of Grupo Dignidade. During the three stages, 12 teams compete for the PUTAÇA , a cup in the shape of breasts and nipple medals, made in ceramics by artist Julia Lana. The first games are this Saturday, 24th, at 2 pm, at Clube da Bola. Enlivening the players' accreditation, arrival of the crowd and the first break, the feminist block 'She Can, She Will' . Entry is free.

This first and second (9/7) stages are qualifying, with the third and last, 9/22, being elimination. The key draw will take place on the 22nd, at 7:30 pm, live on PEITA's instagram profile . The referee Andrea Mayork will explain and answer the doubts of the team captains regarding the regulations.

The entire event is organized by women. In addition to the games and the “Ela Pode, Ela Vai” block, an all-women group that makes feminist versions of marchinhas and sexist sambas, there will also be actions and distribution of gifts. The get-together will take place at Espaço 37, starting at 7 pm, with a presentation by Dáphene Zandoná and the band. Admission will be R$5.

Like the other brand-protest actions, the name of the championship is already a provocation. “In our society, whores are women who dare to be who they want to be, who question, break with imposed stereotypes and fight for equity in all social structures. Dividing women into saints and whores is one of the ways the white supremacist patriarchy submits women to its oppressions and keeps them docile and obedient”, comments Karina Gallon, founder of PEITA.

The first edition of PUTAÇA took place last year in Curitiba and brought together about 100 players, divided into 11 teams, plus the public that crowded the court to watch the games. Before the matches, exchange circles were held between the participants to find out about the difficulties they face in practice.

The cup, a pair of breasts, and the medals, ceramic nipples, are made by artist Julia Lana . Her project “Retratos Rotos” claims the female presence through the teats as an object of study and art, recovering what at some point was 'denaturalized' and objectified. The 2018 winning team, Helenão, chose the player who was the mold for this year's cup.

During the first event, the phrase “Play like a girl” was launched, which Brazil won in June and July, during the 2019 World Cup. “More than a catch phrase, it is a confrontation phrase. Each person who wears the phrase on their T-shirt or socks reframes it within their struggle context”, reinforces Gallon.

( • ) About PEITA

Peita was born on March 8, 2017 with the phrase "Fight like a girl" invading the streets of Curitiba in the demonstrations of International Women's Day - March 8M. The protest brand fulfills the mission of bringing controversial sayings from the context of demonstrations to everyday life, providing a discussion on the anti-racist feminist movement. PEITA is a tool for coping with oppression that provides dialogue and each person who uses it, reframes it in their struggle context.

Today PEITA has 30 phrases, of which 70% are partnerships with movements, institutions and social projects, women who are in militancy and/or companies that are committed to the fight against oppression. In these cases, the profit or part of the production is donated to fund causes.
