PRESS RELEASE

-
About Peita

Peita was born on March 8, 2017, with the slogan “Fight like a girl” taking over the streets of Curitiba during the International Women’s Day demonstrations during the 8M march. The purpose of the protest brand is to offer women tools to fight against daily oppression. We fight for a society that is possible for all women.

All-type t-shirts already existed, but they had never been presented in the way PEITA did: with a strong visual identity and a product especially characterized by narratives. Our design is designed to capture attention from afar. Like a traveling poster, we invaded the streets, taking feminism to other contexts, reaffirming who we are, generating identification, representation and strengthening our affections. PEITA brought a new language to say everything again. We are a cry stamped on the chest and whoever wears a PEITA reinterprets the phrase in their context of struggle.

Created by designer Karina Gallon Basso, of the 59 phrases (including variations of "fight like a girl"), 27 are partnerships with movements, institutions, social projects, women who are activists or companies that are committed to fighting oppression. We don't sell feminism, we are feminists who sell t-shirts.

-
Who is Karina Gallon Basso?

Karina Gallon Basso is a designer from Chapecó, Brazil. She graduated in Industrial Design - Visual Programming from PUCPR in 2008. She worked in advertising agencies and design studios until 2017, working mainly with branding, editorial, guerrilla marketing, experience design and user-centered design. She has a postgraduate degree in Creativity and Innovation Management from PUCPR and in Marketing and Digital Business.

She left the communications agencies to face the world, using her creativity and perception to spread feminism and collective struggles at PEITA, a protest brand that, with its messages, is a tool to confront oppression. With a product especially characterized by narratives, the brand's first and greatest message is "Fight like a girl", which has taken to the streets, encouraging and transforming lives since March 8, 2017.
