Since the beginning of her election campaign, the presidential candidate, Manuela D'Ávila, has the phrase 'Lute Como Uma Garota' stamped on her chest. What few know is that the T-shirt is from the Curitiba brand, PEITA, and was born with the intention of taking to everyday life, coping tools used in popular demonstrations. “We were happy to see a woman who is aiming for the highest position in the country identifying herself with the brand and raising this flag. This is our objective, to encourage women in their different struggle contexts. Whether it be causing it in the family group, at the school meeting or facing situations of harassment in a society that is not prepared to see a woman react”, emphasizes the creator of the brand, Karina Gallon.

The first BREASTS debuted on March 8, 2017. Karina explains that the product is genderless, hence the neutral colors (black, white and gray) and the basic fit. The words are in all type so that the message reaches as many people as possible. “The phrase is the diva of the ride here and each person who wears the bust gives new meaning to it”, comments Gallon.

In March of this year, when it completed one year, PEITA launched the minidoc 'What is Fight Like a Girl', where women share their daily battles with other girls. In the last one, released at the end of June, architect Mônica Benício makes it clear that “Saying that I am a shoe is a political act”. Marielle Franco's widow participates in two Lesbian Visibility Month events held by Coletivo Cássia de Curitiba, the LB arm of Grupo Dignidade, the second LGBTI+ organization in Brazil. The president of Peita acts directly in Coletivo Cássia and was the one who made the bridge with the militant.

“I try to value initiatives by women entrepreneurs. Even more so when it comes to fighting”, says Manuela D'Ávila. Most PEITA quotes are partnered with feminist women and non-profit organizations. Part of the income or production is donated to causes and institutions. “Woman, release your voice”, used by the federal deputy in the Band debate, is a partnership with the Sonora Curitiba Festival, an event made by and to promote women in music. Another phrase used by Manuela D'Ávila, 'My Body is Political' is a co-creation with Alice Riff, director of the film of the same name, and helps Casa Nem, an institution that supports and welcomes transgender people in Rio de Janeiro. Mulheres à Margem Resistem, is a partnership with the group “Ebulição Marginal” from Curitiba and Slam das Minas, from São Paulo, feminist groups of poetry and rap that work in the periphery. Other mines that go hand in hand with PEITA are Sonora Soma, a festival of mines in São Paulo; Creatives from Haiti, volunteers who will help families in need in the reconstruction of the devastated country; TETO, a social organization that builds houses in peripheral communities, etc.
