IT'S LAW! ARGENTINA WILL HAVE LEGAL, SAFE AND FREE ABORTION GUARANTEED!
Anyone who sees the green tide that spread across the world in 2018 has no idea that Argentine feminists have been fighting for the right to terminate pregnancy for 15 years. Yes, it's been 15 years of a lot of confrontation, organization and reception. There, deaths due to poorly performed abortions are the 1st cause of maternal mortality. Here in Brazil it is the 4th.
The entire construction of the National Campaign for the Right to Legal, Safe and Free Abortion is an inspiration for us. Just look at photos of women's marches to see that green scarves have transcended Argentina and become a symbol of decriminalization and legalization around the world. The “pañuelos” are a tradition in the country since the fight of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo. The women went to church with a white cloth tied around their heads and after mass they met to organize actions that asked for justice for their daughters, sons and daughters who disappeared during the country's military dictatorship.

Argentine women say that the green tide is the granddaughter of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo. That's why they use the scarf in the fight for the legalization of abortion, a tribute to those who preceded them. And if you're wondering: why green? This is the only color that is not used by any party. The national campaign is a non-partisan movement that unites the left, center and right. It's us for us.
It is hard to believe that 2020 is ending with this “injection” of hope and encouragement for all of Latin America and the Caribbean. Argentina joins the list of countries that respect the decision of people who choose not to have a baby, providing autonomy, reproductive justice and family planning for its inhabitants. Alongside it are Uruguay, Cuba, Guyana, French Guiana and Puerto Rico.
We would like to close this text by saluting and remembering all our women who were unable to celebrate this historic victory for Argentina with us, as is the case of Ingriane Barbosa, who died after inserting a castor bean stalk into her uterus, and also Luana Ketlen, 13, who died at birth, after being forced to carry a child as a result of the rape she suffered from her father.
( • ) GUERRILLA SCARF "MY BODY IS POLITICAL."

Our sisters won a battle, but for all women in the world to have the right to decide, we need to go to war. PEITA was going to launch its green guerrilla scarf with the phrase “My body is political.” in March 2021, our four year anniversary. We couldn't stand it and produced it in November, just to see how it turned out. Just look at the synchronicity of things, right? For those interested in hanging it in the window, on the wall, wearing it around the neck, in a backpack, purse, fanny pack, it is for sale here on the site.
This is our tribute to the symbol that our sisters created for this fight and we will continue to disseminate it.
