Amazônia Real , an independent and investigative journalism agency run by journalists Kátia Brasil and Elaíze Farias, is launching its first collective funding campaign (crowdfunding) on Catarse.me, a platform consolidated as the home of free media in the country.
The campaign has a double objective: to expand the agency's coverage in the nine states of Amazônia Real and to ensure that journalists who are part of the network of collaborators continue to travel throughout the Amazon region to carry out their investigative reports on forest fires and deforestation, traditional peoples , indigenous peoples, climate change, violation of human and territorial rights, land regularization, human trafficking, diversion of public resources, among other fundamental guidelines in the Brazilian historical moment.
Without financial support, it is practically impossible to cover an area of more than five million square kilometers and this includes transport costs: plane, boat, car and even motorcycle to reach the destination of a journalistic investigation.
The reports from Amazônia Real are published on the website under a Creative Commons license, which allows the materials to be shared and republished for free, thus guaranteeing the democratization of information and that the population of the most remote communities can have access to the contents through social networks. .
In times of increasingly concrete threats against freedom of the press, freedom of expression, the Amazon Rainforest, the Amazônia Real agency is a fundamental vehicle for revealing attacks against the traditional population and the environment, through journalism that does not surrenders to the official discourse and looks for exclusive and revealing guidelines.
Amazônia Real also defends human rights, gender equality and racial equality. For this reason, participating in projects, in addition to journalism, with other partners, including the feminist protest brand PEITA , responsible for empowering women in football with the campaign Jogo Como Uma Garota.
