In five days a girl who has never played an instrument learns a few notes, forms a band, writes a song and practices. On the sixth day, she and her new friends perform in a show, complete with lighting, sound technique, roadies, stage and a maddened audience. 
What is that? It's Girls Rock Camp Curitiba , a summer camp for girls between 7 and 17 years old, which shows girls that music is for women, yes, that we can do what we want and that together, together, my dear friends, we build Amazing things. The transformation takes place with all those involved, including the more than 100 volunteers.
During the camp week, children and teenagers have guitar, bass, keyboard, drums or voice lessons (the choice is made upon registration) and also have workshops aimed at self-knowledge and empowerment of the girls, such as self-defense and identity , and others that will help in the creative process for the day of the show, such as the t-shirt customization workshop with stencils and performance.
( • ) COLLECTIVE FINANCING 
Thinking about increasing the camp's impact, Girls Rock Camp Curitiba launches its first crowdfunding project. So far, the workshops are carried out with instruments borrowed by volunteers and other project partners. According to the camp coordinator, Roberta Cibin, in Curitiba, the objective of crowdfunding is the purchase of own instruments: “With better equipment and instruments suitable for the girls' sizes, we can offer a better experience during the week of the camp. And besides, our desire is for the camp to grow, allowing us to impact more girls and women throughout the year”.

Created 17 years ago in the city of Portland (Oregon, USA), Girls Rock Camp aims to empower girls between the ages of 7 and 17 through music. Camp offers a week of activities that seek to help girls build self-esteem through programming that includes music education and performance, talks on empowerment and social justice, positive role models, and development of collaboration and leadership skills.
The Girls Rock Camp Alliance, which emerged after the creation of Camp in Portland, guides the promotion of camps around the world. A pioneer in Latin America, Girls Rock Camp Brasil was created in 2013, in Sorocaba (SP). Preparing the third edition of the event, Curitiba was the third Brazilian city to receive the initiative, which also exists in Porto Alegre (RS).
