April 30th is National Women's Day . The choice of date is a tribute to the birth of feminist activist Jerônima Mesquita, one of the founders of the Brazilian Federation for Women's Progress in 1922. The suffragette also fought for the right to vote and was among the founders of the National Council of Women in 1947.
