Sometimes it's tiring to be a spokesperson for a cause. I know, I know... I'm not taking mine out of line, I'm not going to stop raising the flags I carry because if we, who have the place to speak, don't manifest ourselves - the world doesn't change.
What I mean is that we hit so many keys so much, there are so many punches on knife points that sometimes we get tired too. But have you ever stopped to think that we speak and fight because WE NEED IT?
There are people who say that “mimimi” is the evil of the modern world, I disagree. Only belittles the struggle of others who does not suffer their pain in their skin. Only those who are comfortably accommodated in their body and social structure can pass by, ignoring everything and everyone on the sidelines. And it is precisely these people who are frightened by guidelines about acceptance, about otherness, about justice and changes in behavior.
The evil of the world is the hypocrisy of only doing something when the water hits your own ass. I also get tired sometimes, but the thirst for a better world does not allow me to change my focus.
It's a path of no return when you realize that it is possible to raise many flags, help in other causes - even if they are not part of your reality. That you lighten the load and contribute to a fight from the moment you listen to the pain of groups that are not yours, take a stand and make people around you aware of them.
Black people also get tired of talking about racism, people with disabilities get tired of talking about ableism, trans people get tired of talking about transphobia, fat people get tired of talking about gordophobia, homosexuals get tired of talking about homophobia, women about feminism and so on. We get tired because it's exhausting explaining all the time what should be obvious, what should be fair but isn't. And in all these lines, the premise is for equity - so realize that it is necessary and ongoing.
We fight for our causes so that we don't have to keep reliving our pain forever, so that future generations have a better structural base than we had and have good examples of representativeness.
And if you think that it's only in marches and demonstrations that fights happen, I want to talk about the music I make, because there's also a fight in it; I want to talk about Paloma's drawings that illustrate my texts, because they also contain struggle; I want to talk about Peita's products, because there is also struggle in them; I want to talk about lunch with the family on Sunday, dinner with friends, profiles on social networks, because there is also fighting there.
And as long as we continue to evolve as people, as a society, as humanity, there will always be good reasons to fight.
