FIGHT LIKE AN AVECIST by Camila Fabro

My name is Camila Fabro, I'm from Curitiba, and last year, at the age of 34, I suffered two strokes that changed my life.

The intention of this text is to emotionally encourage people who are going through the same difficulties. People like it, feel happy, and so do I. This text is specifically inspired by my story and that of other stroke women who help a lot in my recovery (one of them had a stroke at the age of eight).

I am a screenwriter and editor. The stroke inspired me to write about what I was feeling , and from there some projects emerged, including the Desmiolada blog. It takes work, but the emotional return has been fantastic.

I also struggle with a type of aphasia (alteration of language function as a result of brain damage) and sometimes I write with a few letters mixed up. I have proofread this text a thousand times, but if by chance a small error has escaped, I apologize.

My intention with this work is to give visibility to all avecist people who suffer a "whore" prejudice in the job market, in love life and in society in general.

Most of us who have had strokes in our early thirties are overlooked as soon as we arrive at the hospital because the symptoms are mistaken for those of an overdose.

First, everyone should be treated well in the hospital, regardless of the cause that brought you there. Unfortunately, the "wait" for the correct diagnosis causes the stroke to intensify and our consequences to become irreversible.

Few people know that stroke can occur at any age , I was one of them, and this lack of information harms and stigmatizes stroke victims. There are many of us and we are fighting for visibility to guarantee our rights and prevent other people from going through the same thing as us.
