Imagine what it's like to live with your right to come and go violated at every bus turnstile where your body doesn't pass, restaurant chair that doesn't fit your hip, cramped public restrooms that were not designed with your comfort in mind. Bringing the militancy of corporalities to the forefront, PEITA in partnership with the feminist philosopher, youtuber, podcaster and doctor in Gordophobia, Malu Jimenez Jimenez , launch the phrase Lute como uma gordo .

“Fighting like a fat woman for me has been facing fatphobia every day of my life, in spaces that I believed to be safe, with people who loved me and didn't stop being fatphobic. It's facing looks of disgust and disapproval, it's being intellectually devalued for being fat. It means socially denying happiness and humanity and transforming all of this into militancy”, emphasizes Malu.

The protest brand took advantage of the partnership with the fatphobia doctor to review its modeling . “For some time now, we felt the need to adjust the format of our T-shirts, maintaining the agender concept that would suit all bodies. Receiving the feedback and demand from the incredible people who relate to us at PEITA, we realized that the change should happen soon and that we would not be able to do it alone (this is not the place of speech for the women who are involved in our production), comments Karina Gallon , creator of the protest brand.

From then on, Jimenez was called and says that he shared his trauma with T-shirts with Karina:

“how difficult it is to wear one that is comfortable and carries a message that I identify as fat.

Ka proposed that we do the remodel together. This construction was done with great care, we researched brands that have large T-shirts, we thought together even which size would be comfortable and at the same time beautiful”. Now all CHEST pieces go from size XS to G6.

Karina reinforces the combative and provocative character of the brand, which seeks to generate dialogue about the intersectional oppressions that we experience daily: “we don't launch new phrases and variations without a fight, a project or a cause behind it. It has to have content and generate engagement from those who feel represented. Thus, with this partnership, we reaffirm once again that we are not just a T-shirt. We started with it, but we reached spaces and clashes that we would not be without these alliances”.

In times of the coronavirus pandemic, the feminist philosopher warns that the oppression of fat bodies has been even more intense in the media and social networks. “Fatphobia is cruel and invisible because it is always disguised as a concern for health. This psychologically affects everyone, but especially fat people and allows people to humiliate, hurt and exclude even more. malu still alert

“a greater concern than dying or taking care of the people you love is not getting fat”, warns Malu.
