During the demonstration, Marcha Pela Diversidade cups, T-shirts and kits will be on sale. The amount collected will be used in the renovation of the headquarters, a space that supports the LGBTI population through psychological care, rapid HIV testing and promoting LGBTI human rights.

The event is organized by the National LGBTI Alliance, Grupo Dignidade, Coletivo Cássia and TransGrupo Marcela Prado and usually takes place at the end of June, but due to bad weather it was moved to that weekend. The march was created in 2016 with the aim of raising awareness among the LGBTI population about the need to combat LGBTIphobia, in reference to May 17, International Day to Combat Violence Against LGBTI People.
The organizer of Coletivo Cássia, Ananda Puchta, explains that the purpose of the march is to provide an environment of political awareness for LGBTI people in Curitiba, bringing up debates about LGBTI rights, such as combating violence, bullying and school dropout, the need care for young LGBTI people who do not have family support, etc. “It's an attempt to create a community spirit, so that everyone feels responsible and part of the cause. Inclusion is our banner”, reinforces Ananda.

Brazil occupies the sad position of the country that most kills transsexual and transgender people in the world. The ranking was prepared by a European civil organization called Transgender Europe. According to the NGO report, in absolute numbers, between 2008 and 2016, 868 trans people were murdered in Brazil, those who do not identify their gender with their biological sex. And that's not all. In the last year, Brazil broke its record for LGBTI murders: 2017 had 30% more than in 2016.
Grupo Dignidade is the first NGO in Paraná and the second oldest in Brazil, operating for 26 years in the defense and promotion of LGBTI rights.
