Enrollments are open for the course “Insurgencias Gordas II” , which will take place from March 03 to 09, 2021 . In this second edition, the course brings together different people – all of them fat – to give classes on topics of research and personal immersion. In an intensive format, the course will be given over seven days, with sequential and online, live classes, lasting 2 hours each and issuing a certificate at the end. The course is curated by Jéssica Balbino and Malu Jimenez .
“We emphasize that it is, above all, through corporalities and in bodies that our creative powers, dissidents and rebels, are manifested, capable of building a new narrative, of equity, diversity and inclusion”, say the organizers of the meetings.
The teaching staff is different from the one that made up the first course (January 2021), with the exception of the curators, it is made up of people who have lived their whole lives in dissident bodies and understand the need to foster, in an open course, rich knowledge and a critical thinking based on data, scientific research and also practical research on themes, quite plural, that involve the whole of society.
Issues such as how these bodies are treated in contemporary society, how much these bodies are responsible for the history and biography of each person, how movements and bodies themselves influence everyday practices and also, how these bodies are inscribed in the world.
Based on a decolonial proposal that brings together multiple intersectionalities linked to the oppressions that cross the bodies, the course tensions the debate that questions: what is it for whom does corporeal normativity serve?
