PEITA and Coletivo Cássia launch Amateur Women's Futsal Cup

On Sunday, September 23rd, the first phase of the PEITA Women's Amateur Futsal Cup takes place in partnership with Coletivo Cássia, the LBT arm of Grupo Dignidade. Two types of registration were opened: for the complete team or individual player. The event starts at 1 pm and will be at Clube da Bola Curitiba, in Rebouças. For those who want to watch the games, admission is free.

The idea for the Cup came after the “Solidary Football PEITA x MULAMBA” held at the end of June for the launch of the T-shirt and socks with the phrase Jogo Como Uma Garota. The event, which intended to divide 21 women into three teams - PEITA, Mulamba and Coletivo Cássia - had 90 registered at the time. Hygiene items and warm clothing were collected at the event to be donated to homeless women.

The Peita Women's Futsal Cup will have three stages, one in September, the quarter-finals and round of 16 on October 21 and the semi-final and final on Sunday, November 25. The entire organization of the championship is carried out by and for women.

All registration money goes towards paying the court, referees and the cup. PUTAÇA was created by artist Lana Ju, in the shape of a beautiful pair of plaster breasts. The award model was musician Naíra Debértolis, from the band Mulamba. The winning team of the first edition will be able to choose one of the players to be the softie of the breasts of the cup of the next edition.

Regarding the choice of the format and name of the award, the president of PEITA, Karina Gallon explains that “our goal in each new sentence is to disturb machismo, provoke the system and be a trigger for discussions that build us up. Our events could not be different”. The name came from the partnership of Puta Peita + Mulamba, with their song PUTA, which narrates a rape.

Due to the high demand for women from outside Curitiba, the organization is already studying the holding of a national championship in 2019, the LIBERTADORAS of women's futsal. “We don't want to play like men and "fit" into a pattern already established by them. We want to occupy that space in football in our own way. With people, name, cup and rules that represent us”, reinforces Karina.
