Peita and Teto release “Understand That You Are Part”

Union of forces seeks to offer more dignified housing conditions for more than 100 families throughout Brazil.

Peita launches the phrase, “understand that you belong”, a co-authorship with the international social organization, TETO. The sale of T-shirts donated by the protest brand will be carried out by the ambassador, Barbara Campelle, by the architect Juliano Monteiro and the team. The amount collected will be reverted to the Roof Brazil Winter Campaign, which aims to build, together with the contemplated communities, more than 100 houses for families living in slums in Paraná, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia. In Curitiba, there will be 26 homes in three communities in Cidade Industrial.

The new polemical saying dialogues and seeks to sensitize those involved in TETO: donors, volunteers and residents. The idea is also to draw everyone's attention to the social problems of the country where we live. “After empowering, it's time to talk about privileges in Peita. We inherited inequality from slavery Brazil. We need to recognize our privileges and do something with them. There's the trigger of this chest: when you realize you're part of it, what do you do next? The people TETO helps don't need t-shirts, but decent living conditions. Whoever buys this new Peita is together in the construction of a more egalitarian society. Everyone helps as they can, whether by volunteering, donating or buying the chest”, emphasizes Karina Gallon, designer and founder of Peita.

Partner Barbara Campelli, one of the seven TETO ambassadors in Paraná. Each one of them, as well as others throughout Brazil, has its own goal and collective funding on the Benfeitoria website. The launch of the phrase is one of the events organized to raise more funds, promote the campaign and encourage donations. “Within the roof we are spokespersons for the people who are in the communities. Partnering with Peita will enable us to bring the social message to more people. We coexist and we need to take care of each other”, reinforces Bárbara.

together we are strong

“Understand that you belong” is not the first partnership of the brand-protest. “You matter to me” is a co-creation with the “Creativos por Haiti” project, which mobilizes volunteers to develop short-term humanitarian activities in the devastated Central American country. “Women on the margins resist” was born out of a co-creation with “Ebulição Marginal”, an event that since 2013 encourages dialogue between literature and artistic manifestations on the outskirts of Curitiba. In 2018, the girls from Slam das Minas, from São Paulo, also adhered to these sayings. “The sound that is born from them” was a co-creation with Festival Sonora, in São Paulo, available exclusively at the event made by and for women. “My body is political” is a partnership with “Casa Nem”, whose part of the production of the pieces in the colors of the trans flag (white, pink and blue) is destined to the NGO that serves the LGBT population of Rio de Janeiro. The phrase is the title of a documentary that addresses the daily life of four trans activists on the outskirts of São Paulo. Its use was authorized by the authors of the work.

Launch in Curitiba

The official launch will be on May 17 with the show 'Complicada e Perfeitinha', by musicians Naíra Debértolis and Amanda Pacífico and DJing by the Casa de Suingue collective, with Luana Angreves and Heitor Humberto. All ticket money and DJ fees will be donated to the Teto campaign. The A Caiçara restaurant will also donate a percentage of sales of bread and cookies to the cause.
