Roger Water veste PEITA

Roger Water wears CHEST

Former Pink Floyd bassist received from Mônica Benício the T-shirt with the phrase Lute Como Marielle Franco.

Roger Waters Fight Like Marielle Franco

The title could be the headline of a fashion editorial, but the subject is not a trend: it's a struggle. Yesterday (24) during the Roger Water show at Maracanã Stadium, the architect, Mônica Benício asked for justice for Marielle Franco, brutally murdered on March 14, 2018, along with Anderson Pedro Gomes. "This is a family, whether they like it or not. This fight is ours. There is no democracy until the State responds to who killed Marielle", claimed Mônica. After the speech by the militant, Anille Franco and Luyara Santos, the former Pink Floyd bassist complemented the demonstration, in front of 47,000 people: "she believed in human rights, just like me".

The print that Roger Waters wore was created by the president of PEITA, Karina Gallon on the day of Marielle Franco's death. Initially, the art was made available only to posters and collage actions were carried out in Curitiba and other cities in Brazil. The all type style, justified to the left, with the characteristic and exclusive font is already known to Brazilian women. The idea for the T-shirt came as a gift to the councilwoman's family and office staff.

Karina, accompanied by director of photography Leticiah Futata and psychologist Larissa Tomass, met Mônica and Anille Franco in May of this year, when they went to Rio de Janeiro to record their interview for the documentary “What is fighting like a girl” , still no release date. Monica's minidoc was released in June and Marielle's sister's sister comes out in November.

For those interested, the phrase Lute Como Marielle Franco will begin to be sold in November. "The shirts have already arrived, but we are finalizing some details with Mônica and Anielle", he explains. A part of the production will be donated to the family to continue Marielle's work and the profit from what is sold through used in actions to empower girls and women in vulnerable situations.

About the Roger Waters show, the president of PEITA reflects: “look where our powerful network of struggle, acceptance and resistance has taken us? The revolution is feminist yes. Justice for Marielle”.
