How your plagiarism influences and harms the entire support network of PEITA women.


Did you know that 70% of PEITA's phrases are partnerships with institutions, social movements, collectives, sisters who are in militancy or companies committed to fighting the oppressive system in which we live? In some cases, part of the production is donated, we send products for direct actions, we donate part of the profit. Our flagship, which gave us national prominence, was the “Lute Como Uma Garota.”, a T-shirt that pays the bills of women who are directly involved with the brand, preventing them from submitting to triple shifts or less valued sub-jobs, such as this is the case for most women in the capitalist system. This print makes possible the partnerships in which we give up profit to donate it to other people.

When someone fakes our ONLY layout , they are harming the entire support network for women that we create and cultivate with great affection. The plagiarism we are talking about is that of our print, created and developed by the designer and la puta madre of PEITA, Karina Gallon. The print is the result of years of training and research in design. It was she who thought about the spacing between lines, between letters, chose and bought the typographic family used, to convey messages of struggle directly and simply. Kaka thought of the t-shirt as a non-verbal communication channel between people, different from a fashion piece from a fashion campaign, usually in English. It transformed the T-shirt, a basic and accessible piece, into a tool to face the harassment and discrimination we suffer. Thanks to Goddess and the effort of countless women who are with us, it worked out super well!

Every detail of our brand exists for a reason. The print is in all type, large, to be read from a distance. The phrase is the diva of the rolê and each person who uses it resignifies in their fight context. We received beautiful reports of sisters who smile at each other when they see them with the same shirt or phrases, others who are more confident when they see people in the subway station or even, who feel that men are less harassing them when they are with a of our phrases stamped on the chest. That's what we seek, to empower ourselves, to create discomforts that provide a debate on structural, systemic, historical problems.


“Obviously, similar prints already existed, but none with a feminist theme or allied to a social or environmental movement, with the clear function of generating uncomfortable narratives , being a tool of expression, representation and encouragement . What makes us different from a brand that sells feminism is our positioning. It is the protagonism of women at all points in the chain, it is the commitment to approach feminism beyond academia and activist manifestations. It's reaching out to people who believe "they don't need feminism" and starting 'vote-turning' militancy. It is the commitment to break the cycle of reproduction of racism, to shake the structures of oppression and to make sexists, racists uncomfortable. It is to generate a self-reflection to recognize our place of privilege and understand that it is completely inaccessible for most women”, explains Karina.


Could these people who sell fake PEITA at Mercado Livre (there are even people who steal texts and photos from our social networks) and other marketplace sites know how to explain the concept of the print? Who creates a brand or a product does not check if it is plagiarizing? Well, it should. Being on Google does not mean being in the public domain.

TRADEMARK ® The phrase “Fight like a girl”, its variations and the other phrases present in our products are the property of PEITA, duly registered with the INPI and responsible bodies. As the copyright holder of the design, any derivation of the phrase or resemblance to the layout is prohibited. Improper use, reproduction and commercialization are subject to judicial liability, as they constitute a crime against copyright and industrial property and lead the consumer into error.

( • ) HOW DO I KNOW IF IT'S FAKE?





It wasn't once or twice that we received messages with photos from people dressed in fake t-shirts asking us to post them on our social networks. They didn't know they were buying a fake and they feel cheated when we explain.

The original CHEST , in addition to the layout with a balanced design, has an internal label with a message from us, washing instructions, composition and, if it's a partnership, we tell you who's with us in that fight. Oh, and those who buy through the site receive it in an exclusive package and get lots of outrageous treats to spread the message on the streets, at work, everywhere.

( • ) WHAT CHARACTERIZES PLAGIARISM?


Graphically, the plagiarism is in the layout , in the way it was diagrammed: typography style (in bold and may not be similar, even when a sans serif font is used), left alignment, the proportion of the print on the t-shirt, break of lines in the sentences, colors and the period. These are characteristic elements of Peita. Copying them misleads the consumer, in addition to being a copyright violation. That's a crime!

PEITA was born on March 8, 2017 with the phrase “Fight like a girl.” invading the streets of Curitiba in the manifestation of the International Day of the Working Woman. The purpose of the protest brand is to offer tools to face daily oppression. PEITA fulfills its mission to bring controversial sayings from the context of demonstrations to everyday life, whether on t-shirts, hoodies, bags, buttons, magnets, ecobags, stickers, patches, mugs, rashguards, masks and children's bodysuits. The proposal is to cause discomfort, to make people feel the necessary discomfort for the deconstruction, to identify with the phrases and thus, to encourage dialogues on matters that are still thorny. Conceived by Curitiban designer Karina Gallon.

Olá Marcella, tudo bom? Já temos ponto de venda em Porto Alegre, Florianópolis, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Manaus, Curitiba e Recife. Temos apenas dois anos de vida, estamos atrás de mais mulheres feministas interessadas em vender nossos produtos, se conhecer algumas manas, é pedir para que enviem um email pra gente. ;)

Carol, assim como inúmeros coletivos e movimentos, estamos preocupadas em conversar com mulheres em situação de pobreza. Temos parcerias com instituições que atuam em comunidades e dialogamos diretamente com elas. Por exemplo, uma das nossas parceiras atua em uma favela aqui de Curitiba, a Usina de Ideias e leva as peitas, gratuitamente, para as manas da comunidade. Quem pode, paga. Também doamos o lucro da Lute Como Marielle Franco para essa mesma instituição. Doamos o lucro de “Ninguém Solta a Mão de Ninguém” para a Casa Tina Martins, em BH, que acolhe mulheres vítimas de violência e sua família. Doamos o lucro da peita Lute Como Uma Garota, escrita em rosa, para a Fundação Laço Rosa, que leva informação sobre a doença à comunidades do Rio de Janeiro, doa perucas para mulheres que precisam e capacita pessoas da favela, oferecendo curso de perucaria. Tem a frase “Entenda que você faz parte”, onde o lucro das vendas diretas é doado para o Teto Paraná, instituição que reconstrói casas em regiões de ocupação com ajuda de moradoras e voluntárias. Ainda tem mais parcerias, se quiser bater um papo, contamos tudo pra você. Ah, e o preço da camiseta está diretamente ligado a qualidade do produto, modelagem própria e outros fatores. Só reforçando que nossa cadeia de produção é toda realizada por mulheres. :*

Super concordo! Eu demorei mto para comprar porque o frete é muito caro (e isso não é culpa de vocês!). Mas poderíamos pensar numa forma de chegar a todos os estados e reduzir a taxa de entrega (que no meu ponto de vista, é o que faz ficar caro).

Eu super entendo a questão das cópias, que é horrível pra vocês. Mas o meu contraponto é que o preço das camisetas são muito altos! Não é toda mulher/menina que tem R$ 60 mais frete para pagar na camiseta. Deveriam pensar numa forma de atingir também mulheres mais pobres, porque desde sempre o feminismo foi elitista e isso só ajuda a mantê-lo dessa forma.
